Cat
Idaho Mom
Cat and her husband Robert hoped to make their toddler son a brother — but found conceiving for the second time harder than the first. After rounds of IVF and loss, they finally saw a flash of hope in a positive pregnancy test.
Sadly, this light dimmed right around Christmas, at the eight-week checkup. The baby had no brain, and no chance for life.
Immediately, the couple and their healthcare providers entered a bureaucratic nightmare of insurance denials and red tape directly tied to Idaho’s law. This process plunged Cat into a depression, and the family is now in limbo on whether to try again in this current environment.
“It’s hard to move on because you’re constantly reminded by the stories that you hear. It’s like, well that’s what happened to me. And these people either have to take their children to term, or they have to leave the state, or they’re being hunted by their state for something they want.”
